TRAINING DAYS

HOUSE RULES

1. Meet at the Kowen Road gate at 7.00am.  Committee will have the gate open until 7:05am.

2. Committee members have the gate code which you will be given when you are ready to exit the forest.

3. Please make sure you exit via the correct road.  Do not go back down the one way entry road or you will be squashed by a logging truck.

4. Do not leave anything at Kowen.  Pick up your rubbish and that includes your dog's mess too!

5. If you have not renewed your membership, do so prior to Saturday or give it to a committee member before training.  New members, please complete a form (essential for insurance purposes) prior to going out on the trail.  You can download them here.  Don't forget your money. All dogs entering Kowen Forest must have minimum vaccinations of C3 + KC please provide your certificates with your membership forms.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?

  • A very willing and excited woofer

  • Water and a bowl

  • Bike helmet, gloves and warm clothing

  • Stake-out line (you can use a star-picket with chain attached) and mallet. A lead around a tree just won't be strong enough

  • Morning tea (we usually hang around after training for a social chat)

  • Plenty of enthusiasm

For insurance purposes, it is a requirement that everyone who trains at club organised events must be a financial member.   This covers Group Accident and Public Liability. if you are not a financial member of the CSDC, you will need to pay $5 each time you train with the club to cover you for Group Accident and Public Liability insurance.

DIRECTIONS TO KOWEN FOREST:

From Civic:  follow the airport road and head towards Queanbeyan.  Take the left hand turn onto Sutton Road.  Follow Sutton Road for less than a kilometre and take the first right hand turn onto Kowen Road (the sign also says Molonglo Gorge).

From Queanbeyan:  follow Yass Road and turn right onto Sutton Road. Follow Sutton Road for less than a kilometre and take the first right hand turn onto Kowen Road (the sign also says Molonglo Gorge).

This road soon becomes dirt and you should follow it straight ahead until you get to a locked gate where club members meet at 7:00 am.  If you are not at the gate by 7:05 am you will not be able to train.  Unfortunately the gate has to be locked behind us. The training trails are another 5 kilometres into the forest.
